This activity contains 10 fill in the blank with conjugations of the verbs ser or vivir plus 10 sentence completions with the nationality that corresponds to the country listed in the previous sentence. Students must also supply the masculine and feminine nationalities for 10 countries listed. The answer key is included.

Spanish Day of the Dead / Dia de los Muertos Fallen Phrases - This activity provides a unique way for students to write Spanish sentences that utilize common Day of the Dead vocabulary (pierced paper, bread of the dead, cemetery, food, photo, altar, marigolds, family, sugar skulls, etc.) and the verbs gustar and encantar. There are 7 sentences to translate from English to Spanish. The words of the sentences must be written inside of "fallen phrases" boxes that resemble a crossword. Students get feedback as they complete the assignment because only correct words will complete each "fallen phrases" box. The answer key is included.

Surround your students with Spanish language with this 167 word classroom label set! The labels are on plain, white backgrounds to allow you to print them on colored paper, rather than using expensive color printing. There are labels for most anything in your classroom from school supplies like lápices, cuadernos, plumas, tijeras, and carpetas, to standard items in and parts of the classroom like reloj, pared, puerta, ventana, planta, borrador, computadora, cartel, diccionario, pegamento, and engrapadora. Some words have more than one version included to accommodate regional differences, and several words are included in both their singular and plural forms to give flexibility in the classroom. In addition to the very typical classroom items, several words commonly found in Spanish or bilingual classroom settings are included. Examples of these Hispanic culture words are piñata, calavera, castañuelas, esqueleto, toro, and sombrero. Students write a letter to Santa that explains their behavior and tells him what gifts they would like him to bring. There are 48 vocabulary words in Spanish and English to assist students in their letter writing. Included are words about behavior and many gift vocabulary words such as cell phone, clothes (there are 17 clothing words), books, toys, video games, skis, etc. The quantity and variety of vocabulary makes it easy for students to complete their writing assignments and makes this item useful for all levels of Spanish. A one hundred word essay works well for first year students. The word count can be changed for other levels and varying ability levels.
This writing activity can be done in Spanish or English, depending on your focus and the level of the students. It's a great way to introduce students to one of Spain's greatest artists, and to add culture to your class. Students first describe and write their interpretations of 6 different Dali paintings.
